Job Description

The Director of Instructional Design, under general direction, identifies and communicates best practices for applying teaching and learning theories and instructional technologies to curriculum design.

Salary Information: Expected salary range is $55,000 to $60,000 annually.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates and/or conducts regular workshops and ongoing training and assistance to faculty for instructional design implementation in the classroom.

  • Ensures compliance with Texas A&M University System (TAMUS), Coordinating Board, Southern Association of Colleges, and University rules and regulations regarding technology and distance education.

  • Represents the University in developing initiatives to enhance local, national, and international access to courses and degrees and in developing partnerships with other institutions of higher education to expand student access to quality courses and programs.

  • Coordinates development of the annual budgets for departments.

  • Develops annual faculty training programs, and conducts training programs for administrators, division directors, faculty, and student services.

  • Works in coordination with faculty to schedule video conferences and distance education courses.

  • Incorporates emerging theories and practices into instructional design.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ten years of related experience.

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Canvas, Blackboard, and any other LMS

  • University instructional design experience.

  • Experience working in IT dept within any organization.

  • Experience with Zoom/video conferencing

Other Requirements

  • Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
